Things
We Do While Studying
So your
exam is just round the corner. You really need to study. & you know that-
you know it so well that you got to seriously study- dead seriously. Otherwise
you'll be screwed.
But
then, you end up doing a million things 'under the name of studying'. &
they are all so attractive. & innovative. & far more appealing than the
boring 'padhai'.
So here
is a list of some of the most common things that we tend to end up spending our
time upon-
1. WhatsApping- We all are so
addicted to this instant messaging service that we cannot stay away from it for
more than an hour- max! We start up conversations with people from our ‘Favorite'
list- people whom we usually don't even reply to. & if we do not find
anybody to chat with, we keep checking out peoples DP's & statuses. So much
interesting!
2. Checking Facebook- I have
observed people tend to be more active on Facebook during the exam-preparation
period. You open up your fb page, check the feeds, share total random shit...
every 5 minutes. Like every single five minutes. Facebook suddenly gets so much
worthwhile during exams. I can bet that facebook count increases at least 70
times more during exams.
3. Instagram- Most addictive thing!
Ever! Even if you have nothing to do over it, you can just keep refreshing the
feeds, check who follows who; stalk people, find out random celebrity pages
& what not. Totally addictive, man! Totally!
4. Staring at the wall- This seems
so damn interesting. I mean just sitting there, looking at the wall- just
looking at the beautiful, even, empty wall. Empty as our heads probably. But
yeah, you won't get bored of looking out at the wall for a long long time!
5. Staring at your book- Mentally
preparing yourself to actually read. Or worse, reading (scanning) the book’s
pages over & over, with nothing actually registering in our brains. I guess
we fall into some kind of ‘stare-&-get-lost-in-its-beauty’ thing. The
number of hours we stare at our books & walls must be more than even 1/5th
the number of stares we give to all our crushes put together!
6. Making Time Tables- Oh God, how
many times do we end up making time tables, scheduling the studies soo very
efficiently- & instructing ourselves to strictly follow it - & failing
to do so & then there goes some more time in drafting another neat
efficient time table. And assuring ourselves that we will stick to it. *LOL*
7. Calculating our probability of faring well in the
exam- C'mon, you all need to agree here that when the term begins, you
always are over come with the feeling of securing a rank in the college. &
as days pass by, so does your rank pass- to the bottom & farther. &
when the exam is on, all you keep wondering is how will you pass or worse, will
you even pass.
8. Thinking about Life - I
absolutely have no idea why this happens, but at least I tend to think about
life & its “mysteries” & the "problems the society is facing"
& issues with our "education system" a lot more fiercely near
exams. If only I could be more thoughtful about my studies than such
"philosophies of life" & other random useless shit. I must say- deep
thinkers we all turn into!
9. Questioning our career choice- I
can guarantee that every average & below average student has at least once
in every exam (or once in all exams put together) wondered if his "career
choice" was really right. & then he starts considering & thinking
of how life would have been had he done something else. Yeah, thoughtfulness
coupled with questioning your career. Exactly what we need during exams.
10. Net Surfing- Oops how did I
forget this above. We tend to spend so much time surfing the internet for
everything & nothing. The amount of time we spend on google & the
quality of shit we you tube, rises to its peak during exam. As if, google would give us some secret knowledge
for clearing our exams.
11. Making the "After-Exam-Fun"
Plans- The best part. The only part during exams & preps is this-
when you lose yourself in the dreamy world of making your after exam plans.
Plans as to what will do you, where will you go, what will you not do, how you
will wake up late & blah blah. I guess more time is spent in thinking about
the free time than investing the present time in the pre-freedom.
These
are few of the common things which every student tends to indulge in during his
preparations for exams. Except, of course, the studious people (whom we so
"fondly" refer to as "scholly
log").
But all
of you others, welcome to the league. We stand up to the word
"student" truly.
We
rock!
(P.S.
& I just wasted my 30 minutes of exam preps in writing this up!)
Straight from the heart Gauri! Enjoyed it immensely....
