Global Warming

Global Warming

We all are very well acquainted with the term “Global Warming”. But I would still like to give a brief about the topic.

Global Warming is nothing but the increase of Earth's average surface temperature due to effect of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels or from deforestation, which trap heat that would otherwise escape from Earth. As we keep hearing consistently from the media, speeches, books & study texts; recent years have consistently been the warmest in hundreds and possibly thousands of years.

All this happens more specifically with the increasing emission of Carbon Dioxide C2O in the air. The actual increase in carbon dioxide actually began in 1800, following the deforestation of much of the Northeastern America and other forested parts of the world. The sharp upswing in emissions during the industrial revolution further added to this, leading to a significantly increased carbon dioxide level even by 1900. Thus, we see that Global Warming is not something far off in the future - in fact it predates almost every living human being today.

A recent study by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration gives strong evidence that global warming is a major factor for the various flood-draught situations encountered recently.

There are various ill effects of Global Warming. They are:-

1. Inundation of fresh water marshlands (the everglades
2. Low-lying cities, and islands with seawater
3. Widespread vanishing of animal populations
4. Changes in rainfall patterns with droughts and fires in some areas, flooding in other areas
5.
Melting glaciers
6.
Melting of the ice caps with loss of habitat near the poles & so on

All in all, the most simple way to describe Global Warming would be by framing it as the Warming of the Globe- where our beloved habitat- the Globe is getting increasingly hotter with each passing day.

While I am typing this on my Cellular phone, a fat lady bumps into me. I throw her a nasty look & get back to my typing. The lady just juggles to move away towards the door. She probably has to get down at the next station. As I get back to my typing, the poor lady is still juggling to make a way towards the door- thanks to the overly crowded trains during peak hours. As the station is nearing, everybody gets into the “plunge now” zone & waits for the train to halt. The train comes to a screeching halt & everybody starts getting down. Being a commercially dominated city, there is a huge crowd to get in as well, as the office hours have just ended. As scores of people get in, there becomes a huge chaos as people are getting in, pushing, pulling, screeching at each other. The next station is one where a lot of people get down, & are already lined up all ways, in spite of the distance being a whole 3 minutes. While few of the smart ladies manage to get to the other farther end, a few poor souls are left sandwiched between the others.

As everybody is busy with the pushing & pulling, there is a girl shouting at the top of her voice, requesting everybody to get in. Nobody pays heed to her. Again, she shouts at the crowd saying that she has to get down at the last stop, & thus to please allow her to get in. As I try to stand up on my toes & see, I find that she is merely balancing on the foot board. During this, a lady from behind shouts back to her, “why are standing at the door then? Can’t you get inside?”, over which she helplessly states that she couldn’t due to the crowd. Another lady states, “We need to get down at this station. You better get down!” The poor girl states, “Better let me get in. ‘cause if I get down, it will be really difficult for me board again”. This of course, falls upon headless ears.

Suddenly, a lady shouts, “Anadar jaa, naitoh dhakka de denge!”, & she is joined by a few other females as well.

The girl scared now, murmurs, “Il get in. Please give me some space.”

Dhakel do isko niche. Train me travel karneka akkal nahi hota toh aate kyu hai?!”

“Ok Ok. I will get down at the next station.”

“What get down! We will push you down if don’t!”, continuing with, “Sab station aate hi isko dhakka de do! Naitoh hum utar nai payenge!”

The girl, frantic by now, says, “I said I will get down myself! Dhakka mat do! Latak rahi hu! Gir jaungi!”

Toh hum kya kare?! Girti hai toh gir jaa!”

Thankfully, a few more ladies who were just by there, tried to kill the situation saying “thik hai… thik hai… utar rahi hai wo!”

The station arrived, & the frenzied girl stepped down immediately.
I did not see her again in that train, so I guess she couldn’t get in back the second time.

Saddened by the situation, I felt horrible for the poor girl. However unable to do anything about it, I unlocked my phone & read what I had written: “Global Warming… the Globe is getting increasingly hotter with each passing day.”

Yes, the globe is getting hotter, fiercer with each passing day.

With each passing day, we witness a rapid rise in the temperaments’ of people…
With each passing day, we encounter horrendous crimes, all committed by men or women, just in their angst…
With each passing day, we come across innumerable news, all dealing with tendencies of people & their rising emotion-control issues…
With each passing day, we battle against our own inner demons & try to pacify ourselves…
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On 10th August 2011, a 5th Std boy was grievously hurt by his fellow best friend, because the guy hadn’t let him take his compass- he couldn’t take the denial.

On 24th March 2013, a wife was killed by her own husband because she couldn’t conceive, the reason being the husband’s impotency - he couldn’t deal with his own “shortcoming”.

On 28th September 2014, a girl was raped, just because there was communal war, & she belonged to another caste.

On 31st July 2009, an aged 70plus man was killed by the intruders in his house, when they couldn’t find any gold or cash there- the reason being, they couldn’t handle the infuriation.

On 19th February 2007, a man killed his son & wife, because he couldn’t fend them- something which was his own failure.

On 1st June 2010, a girl faced an acid-attack by her estranged lover, because she had rejected to marry him- & he couldn’t handle the rejection.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today, while I write this, a girl is silently submitting to her boyfriends physical demands because if she doesn’t, he might leak her intimate photographs.

While I am writing this, there stands a guy at the door of a Virar fast local, who is begging the men to not push him down- the men being really hyper over merely getting down at a station.

As I continue writing this, a woman in an adjacent village is being beaten up by her husband for not giving him any cash- he cannot deal with his own inability, & whams the irritation over her.

While I keep on writing, there breathes a fetus her last, because her mother was just murdered by her in-laws for not providing them dowry.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes, we are facing Global Warming. Global Warming- where people are losing their temperaments & losing the ability to draw lines between the good & the evil.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just like the glaciers are melting down, so are our hearts- to take the bad-looking face of angst.

Just like the rivers are draughting, so are we facing draughts in our lives- where our souls are getting dried up to kill our own people for hiding self short comings.

Just as our animal population is dying down, so is our reasoning ability.

Just like the increasing deforestation is leading to higher, quicker chances of a more horrendous global warming, so is the increasing inability of ours to cope with situations getting slashed down.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes, we are in an age of true Global Warming.
Where people are getting increasingly hot-headed & melting away all the humanity!

  1. Simply superb rendition of a burning topic both in the Earth's atmosphere and on Earth .... in our temperaments.
